Celebri-tea Drinking Habits

Fun

No matter how far up the celebrity ladder you make it, contracts won & friends lost, a cup of tea is still a cup of tea. Whether it’s for tea’s extensive list of health benefits or just to hold, sip & relax with, celebrities are no different to you or me. We’ve compiled a list of celebrities and their tea habits.

Eric Idle

Actor, writer, broadcaster & Python, Eric Idle, swapped cigarettes for tea when he moved to Los Angeles. In a tweet from 2018, Idle chronicles his daily tea routine in response to fan questions:

“I hate earl grey. I start my day with Lapsang Souchong (a smokey tea) then move on to Margaret’s Hope (a Darjeeling) then Buddhas Cup (both from Chado) and end up with Camomile. I also grow my own Vervaine (Lemon Verbena)”

Nigella Lawson

Put down the Mee-Kro-Wav-Ay, unhand your sensual spatula & strap in – you won’t want to come between Nigella Lawson and her tea. Be warned, she only likes it “very strong with some milk in it” & will only drink it “just after it’s too hot”. No wonder she’s mispronouncing kitchen equipment, Nigella quaffs 12 cups of the stuff a day! For a couple of years, Nigella was the face of Typhoo tea before being axed for the equally as dashing Ben Fogle. But don’t worry – Nigella has a cracking tea bread recipe which could be made with some of our English Breakfast!

Beyonce

Powerhouse female vocalist, fashion icon & all round Bae, Beyonce is picky when it comes to her tour rider. Apart from asking for a CD player in every green room she passes through, Beyonce demands rose scented candle, sliced lemon wedges, 1 hot tea set up along with a case of Aquafina water (half cold, half room temperature). Perhaps Porter Hill’s Easter blend is the best thing Beyonce never had?

Prince

Now hosting an open mic in the great raspberry beret in the sky, Prince left behind him 40 beautiful studio albums, a wardrobe to be jealous of & more ear-worms than your gran’s compost bin. In a recent release of material, his tour rider detailed a whole host of must-haves when on the road. Important to Prince was a “coffee and tea set up, including honey, lemon, sugar, cream, fresh ginger root.” If he was still touring today, or perhaps wanted to do a Huddersfield Residency at The George Hotel, he might have enjoyed our Lemon & Ginger tea - perfect for sore throats & colds. Prince’s rider also lists a physician on hand to “administer a b-12 injection”. Nice!

Adele

Mum to everyone, Adele, has had a textbook career. Essex girl turned universal Queen, Adele doesn’t travel far without a tea set up. Her current rider for her Las Vegas residency consists of:

1 pack Marlboro light plus 1 disposable lighter; organic ginger and lemongrass tea; 2 bottles green tea; 1 electric kettle; 6 large mugs; 6 teaspoons; 2 squeezey bottles clear honey (not organic) & 1 bottle very best quality red wine.

Now that’s my kind of buffet!
