Sri Lanka’s finest: Lumbini Tea Valley

Lumbini Tea Valley, located in the South of Sri Lanka's hill country, is home to some of the finest tea in the world. The valley has rich, nutritious soil and the purest oxygen rich air flowing in from from the Sinharaja rain forest, a UNESCO world heritage site.

On a 2021 visit tea hunting expedition to Sri Lanka I visited the beautiful estate, toured the immaculate factory and sampled some of their superb teas. I also met up with Chaminda Jayawardana, the managing director of Lumbini Tea Valley, in Colombo. His knowledge, expertise and passion for the perfect tea is unrivalled and a testament to the international success of his company.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of Lumbini Tea Valley's tea is the unique terroir of the region. The valley's high altitude, cool climate, and fertile soil provide the perfect conditions for tea cultivation.
