Jasmine Green - Tea of the Month

What better tea to reflect the longer, fresher days than our Jasmine Green blend.

Cultivated in high altitude gardens looking over Taiwan, our jasmine green tea is picked in spring’s second flush. They are then preserved until young jasmine buds can be plucked & layered in over the green tea. This marriage of leaf & bud allows a fresh, perfumey flavour to develop. It’s a delightful aromatic brew with a familiar aftertaste of rich, earthy green tea we’ve come to know & love. Use code JAZGREEN for 10% off throughout July!

How to Brew Jasmine Green Tea

To brew we suggest 2g to 200ml of water. As this is a delicate green tea, a brew temperature of 80-85*c will allow the full flavour profile to reveal itself. Any hotter & you risk scorching the leaf & taste.

Jasmine Green Tea Benefits

We’ve found that jasmine green tea has many health benefits. Our favourite 2 benefits to jasmine green are:

High in Antioxidants

Like all green teas, this jasmine green tea is very high in antioxidants. Polyphenols such as EGCG have been proven to improve blood sugar levels1 & have a positive impact on oral health2. It may also reduce the risk of colon cancer, with, in one 2015 trial, reducing colon cancer cells by over 50% when participants drank green tea daily3

Brain Boosting

A 200ml brew, depending on brew length, can have up to 60mg of caffeine hiding within its aromatics. By blocking the inhibitory neurotransmitter Adenosine, green tea can keep you focussed for longer. And, with the presence of the l-theanine amino acid4, jasmine green tea will keep you naturally jitter-free & relaxed.

Iced Tea

With a few false Springs behind us, we can look forward to warmer weather, which means iced tea! We’ve got 2 iced tea recipes for you to try using our Jasmine Green Tea blend

Standard Spring Iced Tea

Simply brew 2tsp of tea with 200ml of 80*c water, let it cool to room temperature & top up with ice. Serve with a mint garnish or a dash of ginger ale for a fizzy pop!

Koridashi Green Tea

The Japanese technique of Koridashi iced tea is a slow process, but is well worth the wait! For 2 servings, take 12oz of ice & mix with 3tsp of jasmine green tea in a glass jug. Now wait for the ice to melt at room temperature & when melted, strain & serve. This process will give you a different taste profile than a traditionally brewed cup. What you will make is a deep, rich nutty iced tea with bags of aftertaste.
