Organic Osprey Gunpowder

from £5.70

Comprised of perfectly rolled leaves, Organic Osprey Gunpowder tea blossoms and unfolds as it brews into a vibrant, crisp, vegetative and refreshing cup. This is a superior Gunpowder from Zhejiang Provence. The green leaf for this tea is plucked during April, corresponding to the time of the best quality. Legend has it that the name Gunpowder was given by a young English clerk who thought the tiny rolled green balls resembled gunpowder.

Rolling the leaf has two effects on quality of the tea. It forces flavourful juices that otherwise would remain in the leaf to the surface. Rolling also forces out water, thus helping to reduce the tea's final moisture content. The pellet retains its shape during firing and keeps its freshness longer than other teas outside of the pellet form.

This tea is a classic top quality Gunpowder (marked as 'Osprey' the high soaring bird of prey) with all those good 'green tea' taste properties - slightly vegetative but refreshing and crisp.

Ingredients: Green tea (Organic Certified)

Origin: Zhejiang Province, China 🇨🇳

The perfect cup:

  • 1 teaspoon per cup

  • 85° water, or boiling water left to cool for 2-3 minutes

  • Brew for 2-3 minutes
