Most decaf coffee exists to fill a gap. Aurora exists to make one. Danelaw created this blend specifically to show what decaf can be when you treat it like speciality coffee: bright, complex, worth paying attention to. It won a 3-Star Great Taste Award in 2024, which suggests the judges agreed.
The beans come from Colombia, decaffeinated using the sugarcane process that preserves sweetness and acidity better than most methods. A light roast keeps the fruit notes intact. What lands in your cup is mandarin zest, ripe black grape and a gentle caramel sweetness underneath. No hollow aftertaste, no cardboard flatness.

Does Aurora really taste like speciality coffee?
Yes. The light roast and sugarcane decaf process preserve the acidity and fruit you would expect from a good Colombian. It won a 3-Star Great Taste Award in 2024, which is rare for decaf.
What is sugarcane decaffeination?
A process using ethyl acetate derived from sugarcane. It removes most caffeine while keeping sweetness and brightness intact. It is gentler on flavour than some other methods.
Is there any caffeine left?
A trace remains, as with all decaf coffee. It is not completely caffeine-free, but the amount is very small.
What grind should I use?
Whole beans are best ground just before brewing. Medium for filter, medium-fine for Aeropress, fine for espresso. The bag comes as whole bean unless you request ground.
How should I store it?
Keep the bag sealed and away from light and heat. Use within a few weeks of opening for the brightest flavour.

Sweet mandarin, juicy black grape and soft caramel come together in a cup that’s vibrant without being sharp and sweet without becoming heavy.
Made from a blend of Colombian sugarcane decaf coffees and lightly roasted by Danelaw in Holmfirth, Aurora was created to prove that removing caffeine doesn’t mean removing character. The result is a coffee that feels fresh, expressive and surprisingly moreish.
