Dark Woods roast it at their place in Marsden, just over the hill from Huddersfield, using washed arabicas from Colombia and Honduras.
The medium roast brings out milk chocolate sweetness and gentle stone fruit notes without tipping into anything sharp or bitter. There is enough body to hold its own with a splash of milk, but it stays smooth and balanced if you take it black. No surprises, just a proper cup.
It suits the weekday rush and the slow Saturday morning equally well. The kind of coffee you reach for without thinking, then realise halfway through the cup that you are actually enjoying it rather than just drinking it.
