Hand-tied flowering green tea
A hand-tied green tea ball that opens slowly around amaranth, jasmine, chrysanthemum and lavender. Part tea, part table centrepiece, best enjoyed in a glass pot with an audience.
The story
Flowering teas are made by hand-tying early-season green tea leaves around real blossoms, then shaping them into a tight ball. When hot water hits, the whole thing unfurls slowly: leaves opening outward, flowers emerging from the centre. Dragon Four Flowers wraps four blooms inside: amaranth, jasmine, chrysanthemum and lavender, each adding a soft floral note without overwhelming the tea underneath.
The green tea base is light and smooth rather than grassy or astringent. Brewed right, with cooler water and a bit of patience, it stays clean with a subtle vegetal sweetness. The flowers lift the cup without turning it into potpourri.
This is not a tea you make in a rush with one eye on your emails. It wants a glass teapot, a slow afternoon, maybe someone across the table to watch it open. Once brewed, the bloom can sit in cool water as a centrepiece for a few days. Proper theatre, minimal effort.
How to brew it
01Hot (glass teapot)
Place ball in pot first, then add water gently. Pouring directly on top can break it apart.
02Second steep
Good for 2–3 infusions; flavour softens each time
03As a centrepiece
Transfer to a clear bowl after brewing and keep topped up with cool water
Shop tip: Use water just off the boil, around 80°C, and let the tea come to you rather than rushing it. The slower it opens, the better it looks.
Made for moments like
Set a glass teapot on the table and let everyone watch the bloom unfurl. Conversation starter sorted, no awkward small talk required.
This tea rewards patience. Make it when you have nowhere else to be and nothing urgent to do.
For the person who appreciates something a bit different: a tea that doubles as a small spectacle.

Good questions
Each ball makes around 3–4 cups and can be steeped 2–3 times. Top up with fresh hot water once the first pot is poured.
The floral notes are gentle. Jasmine and lavender lift the tea rather than dominate it. The green tea base stays clean and smooth.
You do not need one, but you would be missing the point. The whole appeal is watching it open. A heat-safe glass teapot or large heatproof glass works well.
Medium caffeine, similar to other green teas. Fine for an afternoon cup but perhaps not right before bed.
Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place away from heat, sunlight and strong aromas. The tea balls are delicate, so handle them gently.

Choose a clear pot and enjoy the fresh green-tea base with its layered blossom aroma.
