The story

Hot chocolate with a sense of occasion

Harth make their drinking chocolates in micro-batches on the edge of Bath, using organically certified cocoa, rapadura sugar and proper spices rather than artificial flavourings. The cocoa is unalkalised, which keeps its natural depth and slight bitterness, so the drink feels grown-up rather than cloying.

Winter Solstice is their seasonal blend: cinnamon, ginger, clove and nutmeg, plus a whisper of cayenne that warms the back of your throat without shouting. Stir it into hot milk and you get something thick and spiced, exactly right for the longest nights of the year.

The packaging is plastic-free and fully recyclable, which matters when you are buying something purely for comfort. This is the sort of thing you reach for after a freezing walk or when friends arrive and the fire is lit.

Around 15, depending how generous you are with your spoonfuls. Expect roughly 26g per serving if you use two heaped teaspoons.

What spices are in the Winter Solstice blend?
