FORLIFE Stump Teapot: Size, Infuser and Everyday Use
The FORLIFE Stump is a compact ceramic teapot with a deep removable infuser. Its 530 ml capacity is the detail to start with: it suits one generous mug with a top-up or two smaller cups, not a full round for a crowded table.

If you are choosing your first loose-leaf pot, that modest size can be a strength. You use less water, the basket is easy to lift when the tea is ready, and there is no second cup quietly over-steeping at the bottom. The question is whether 530 ml matches the mugs you actually use.
At a glance
- Capacity: 530 ml / 18 oz
- Best for: one large mug plus a top-up, or two smaller cups
- Body: high-fired ceramic
- Infuser: removable stainless-steel basket with extra-fine 0.3 mm holes
- Lid: hinged to the handle so it stays with the pot while pouring
- Current choice: nine colour variants, all available for sale when checked
Is 530 ml the right size for you?
Ignore the words “two cup” for a moment and measure your usual mug. Fill it with water to the level you normally drink, then tip that into a measuring jug. Two 250 ml cups fit within a 530 ml headline capacity, but a pair of 300 ml mugs plainly will not.
The basket and a sensible gap below the rim also take up room, so do not expect every last millilitre to reach the table. If you normally drink from a large mug, think of the Stump as a personal pot with a refill. If two people each want a full modern mug, the 710 ml FORLIFE Curve is the more comfortable comparison.
| Your usual serve | How the 530 ml Stump fits | Better alternative if it does not |
|---|---|---|
| One 300–350 ml mug | One mug with a useful top-up | A mug infuser if you never want the refill |
| Two 200–250 ml cups | A sensible shared pot | None needed unless you prefer larger pours |
| Two 300 ml mugs | Too small for two full mugs | The 710 ml Curve |
| Three or more people | Too small for one round | A larger teapot |

What the infuser changes
In a traditional pot, loose leaves continue brewing until the pot is empty. The Stump puts them in a deep basket instead. When the cup tastes right, lift the basket out and set it on a saucer. That simple step keeps the next pour from becoming progressively darker and drier.
The maker specifies extra-fine 0.3 mm holes. That makes the basket useful for fine rooibos and broken black tea as well as larger oolong leaves. “Extra-fine” does not mean laboratory filtration: very small dust can still pass through, and a packed basket will still brew unevenly. Give the leaf room and expect a clean everyday pour rather than a perfectly particle-free one.
How much leaf should you use?
Follow the instructions for the tea, then scale them to the amount of water you actually add. If a tea calls for 3 g per 250 ml, a near-full 500 ml brew starts at about 6 g. A tea calling for 2.5 g per 250 ml starts at about 5 g. There is no single spoonful that suits every black tea, green tea and chunky herbal blend.
How to use the FORLIFE Stump
- Warm the ceramic with a splash of hot water if you are making a tea that benefits from steady heat, then empty it.
- Place the tea in the dry basket, leaving room for larger leaves to open.
- Add the amount of water and temperature stated for that tea. Do not use boiling water automatically for delicate green or white tea.
- Start a timer. Taste near the end of the recommended range.
- Lift the basket out when the tea is ready and rest it on a saucer or heatproof dish.
- Pour with the lid closed and the spout pointing away from hands and table edges.
The attached lid is handy because there is no loose ceramic top to hold while pouring. The infuser handle is still likely to be warm after a full brew, so treat it as hot teaware rather than relying on the plastic grip to stay cool in every situation.

Check the coloursWhich teas work well in it?
The Stump is an all-rounder rather than a specialist pot. Its fine basket handles small particles better than a coarse ceramic filter, while its depth leaves room for rolled oolongs and larger leaves to open.
- Breakfast and flavoured black tea: the ceramic holds heat steadily; remove the basket on time to avoid an over-strong second cup.
- Green and white tea: use the cooler water and shorter time stated on the tea rather than treating the pot as the recipe.
- Oolong: leave expansion room and try shorter repeat infusions if the leaf supports them.
- Rooibos and honeybush: the extra-fine holes are designed for small leaf, though a trace of fine material may still reach the cup.
- Fruit and herbal blends: gently remix chunky blends before measuring so fruit, roots and petals are shared between brews.
Cleaning and everyday care
The current Porter Hill product record and maker information describe the pot as dishwasher safe. Even so, a quick rinse straight after brewing keeps leaf from drying into the fine holes. Tap out spent leaf, rinse from both sides and use a soft brush only when needed.
For tea staining, the maker recommends warm water and baking soda rather than abrasive scouring. Let the ceramic and basket dry before storing the pot closed. Check the current product instructions before using any appliance beyond the dishwasher; this guide does not assume microwave or hob suitability.

Who should choose it — and who should not?
Choose the Stump if you want one compact pot for several tea styles, you value a removable fine infuser and you usually brew for yourself or one other person. It is also a sensible small-kitchen choice: the maker describes the shape as stackable, although stacking only matters if you own more than one.
Skip it if you routinely serve several large mugs, prefer to watch flowering tea open through glass or need something unbreakable for travel. If you already have a favourite mug, the stainless-steel basket infuser is the simpler and less bulky route.
Frequently asked questions
Does 530 ml really make two cups?
It can make two smaller cups, but not two large modern mugs. Measure your mug before buying. For one large mug, expect a useful top-up rather than a second full serving.
Will rooibos fall through the infuser?
The maker specifies extra-fine 0.3 mm holes and explicitly positions the basket for fine leaf such as rooibos. A little dust can pass through any practical mesh, so “extra-fine” should not be read as perfectly particle-proof.
Can the basket be removed?
Yes. Removing it when the tea is ready is the main advantage: extraction stops, so the later pour is less likely to become bitter or dry.
Is the FORLIFE Stump dishwasher safe?
The current product record and maker guidance say it is dishwasher safe. Rinsing the fine basket immediately after use still makes routine cleaning easier.
