Four teas. One remarkable corner of China.
Our Yunnan Tea Adventure is a little tour through one of the world's oldest and most important tea-growing regions β thankfully without the airfare.
Inside you'll find four very different loose leaf teas, each with its own character. There's the rich sweetness of Golden Heaven Yunnan, the smooth and slightly smoky Snow Yunnan, an earthy Mini Tuo Cha Pu-Erh, and the wonderfully mellow Badaling Yellow Tea.
Taste them side by side and you begin to see just how much difference the leaf, processing and local tradition can make. That's really the point of the box. It's not simply four nice teas bundled together; it's a chance to sit down, put the kettle on and explore Yunnan properly.
Each tea comes in its own 25g pouch, with tasting notes and straightforward brewing instructions included. There's enough here for plenty of cups β and hopefully a new favourite by the end of it.
A cracking gift for an adventurous tea drinker, although we're quite happy if you keep it for yourself.
Inside the box
Golden Heaven Yunnan β 25g
A wonderfully smooth black tea with a naturally sweet character and notes of malt, cocoa and gentle spice.
Snow Yunnan β 25g
Smooth and easy-going, with classic Yunnan depth, a gentle smokiness and a clean, lingering finish.
Mini Tuo Cha Pu-Erh β 25g
A traditional fermented tea with deep, earthy flavours and a wonderfully distinctive character. If you've never tried pu-erh before, here's your excuse.
Badaling Yellow Tea β 25g
A rare style of Chinese tea sitting somewhere between green and white in character. Mellow, gently sweet and beautifully soft.
What you get
β’ Four different loose leaf teas
β’ 25g of each tea β 100g in total
β’ Tasting and brewing guide
β’ Presented in our Porter Hill kraft gift box
β’ A proper introduction to the teas of Yunnan
Why Yunnan?
Yunnan sits in China's mountainous south-west and has one of the oldest relationships with tea anywhere in the world. Ancient tea trees still grow here and the province is particularly famous as the birthplace of pu-erh.
What we like about Yunnan is the sheer variety. Black, green, yellow and fermented teas can all taste completely different despite sharing the same broader landscape.
This box gives you four of them to explore at your own pace.
Is it suitable for someone new to loose leaf tea?
Very much so. We've included brewing instructions for each tea, so there's no need to know your pu-erh from your yellow tea before you start.
In fact, that's rather the idea.
Does it make a good gift?
Yes β particularly for someone who already enjoys tea but might appreciate being given something they haven't tried before. It arrives together in the Porter Hill presentation box shown.
How many cups will it make?
You receive 100g of loose leaf tea altogether. The exact number varies depending on how generously you measure your tea, but there's plenty here for a proper exploration rather than four token samples.
